Kambalda Geology Symposium 2017 Recap

Together with co-sponsors Cube Consulting and BMGS, Expedio helped to organise yet another successful Kambalda Geology Symposium.

Held on 12 October 2017 at the Kambalda Community Recreation Centre, the event featured a wide range of useful presentations.

Presentations addressed the latest technology available to monitor blast movement, 3D laser scanning, and data management for mines and exploration. The topics also included talks about the area specific mines’ geology and development success.

Increasing Knowledge Through Collaboration

Rebecca Prain served as the MC for the event, welcoming the region’s project  geologists to learn new information through listening to the presentations and through informal conversations among colleagues. In only a few short hours, participants honed their professional skills, thanks to the informative presentations from each of the experts on tap.

More than 80 geologists attended the sessions and both the number of speakers and delegates were increased from previous years.

Expedio’s Managing Director, Lara Groves, acknowledged the participants and co-sponsors for their part in the event. She said, “Thank you to everyone who attended the Kambalda Geology Symposium and to Cube Consulting, co-sponsors BMGS and Expedio for organising another successful event. Special thanks to Rebecca Prain for her outstanding job as MC and making everyone feel welcome. It was a great opportunity for geologists to get together and hear a wide variety of presentations.”

From all the buzz on LinkedIn, the participants felt likewise. One participant commented, “…A great symposium. The presentations were…interesting and informative.”

Another simply exclaimed, “Excellent presentations and event!”

Sharing knowledge about the local mining industry, as well as techniques and tips, is always a big part of this information-packed event. With the symposium itself only taking five hours from start to finish, participants had ample time to meet up afterwards to see clients, colleagues, and long-time friends and catch up on the latest developments in the field.

Lara Groves and the entire Expedio team look forward to an even better event in 2018.
